Mark Wardle VP Innovation Programmes, British Telecom Plc
Since gaining an honours degree in electronic engineering in 1982, Mark Wardle has held a variety of management roles in BT, mainly in the area of Broadcast Television.
At BT Media and Broadcast (the media and satellite solutions arm of BT), Mark was Technology and Operations Director for 3 years responsible for BT’s global broadcast and satellite business. In this role, Mark rolled out the worlds first broadcast IP/MPLS network for ITV which has become an industry benchmark. In his last role as Customer Programme Director before leaving the media team in 2006, Mark installed the Digital TV trial in Ireland for the Irish Government as part of preparation for analogue TV switch off in 2012.
In 2006, Mark was invited by Matt Bross, BT Group CTO, to join a small team launching a Global Venture to sell BT’s Next Generation Network (NGN) expertise overseas. In this role, Mark worked on consultancy projects for customers in both the middle and Far East. Mark is currently working on several international NGN projects as part of BT’s Group CTO team ensuring that best practices are used in the technical, commercial and implementation areas across the business. One of these is the harmonisation of BT’s product portfolio across the UK and Ireland using BT’s 21st Century capabilities to bring new services and agile delivery.
Mark is a Chartered Engineer, a member if the IET and a member if the Institute of Directors.
