Mr. Joan Batlle Head of International Projects Department at Barcelona's Municipal Institute of Information Technology

The Barcelona's Municipal Institute of Information Technology (IMI) is owned by Barcelona Municipality and is the organisation responsible for provision of all ICT services and infrastructures required by the Municipality of Barcelona.

Mr. Batlle has a Degree on Physical Sciences from the Universitat de Barcelona, a postgraduate diploma on Information Technology Audit from Institut Català de Tecnologia and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and a Masters degree in Management of Information Technologies from Universitat Ramon Llull.

Mr. Batlle has been both Technology Co-ordinator of Internet Services since 1997 as well as European Projects Manager. In 1991 Joan lead the introduction of Client/Server Platforms supporting currently mission-critical internal processes in the municipality; in 2002 he was responsible for the introduction of a Web Content Management System for the Municipality, and in that same year he was also appointed Head of the International Projects Department.

Since 1999 Joan Batlle has worked closely with the Citizen’s Participation Department in the introduction of new technologies facilitating citizenship participatory processes.
